Jane Ann Isenburg Obituary

Jane Ann Isenburg (née Wallace), 80, formerly of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Ellisville, Missouri. Born on September 22, 1944, in Bloomington, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of the late Hugh L. and Charlotte L. (Simpson) Wallace.

 

Jane earned her Bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois State University and her Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She began her teaching career in Bloomington, Illinois, and devoted the majority of her professional life to the Granite City School District #9. Jane was a dedicated educator, teaching third grade, high school English, and the Gifted Program. Volunteering was a cornerstone of Jane’s life. She was deeply involved in every group, troop, and club her children participated in. Jane also served on the Public Library Board and was a member and past president of the Granite City Business and Professional Women (GCBPW) networking group. Jane had a passion for genealogy, often tracing her family’s roots. She loved to travel and was an avid seamstress, creating beautiful quilts and cross-stitch projects. Jane’s friendships were lifelong, and she cherished each one dearly. She was a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and an adoring sister. Jane’s legacy of professionalism, compassion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Charlotte (Simpson) Wallace; and her brother-in-law, Michael Lazaris.

 

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Jeffrey (Lisa) Isenburg, of Saybrook, Illinois and Amy (Barry) Strawn, of Wildwood, Missouri; her grandchildren, Joshua Isenburg, Evan Isenburg, and Carson Strawn; her sisters, Nancy Lazaris, Susan (Al) Strauch, and Jeanne Moss; her former spouse, Stephen Isenburg; her brother-in-law, Larry (Patricia) Isenburg; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Family and friends may gather from 12 noon to 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd., Granite City, Illinois.

 

Funeral: A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, Illinois with Pastor Larry Ridenour officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
