Ronald “Ron” Eugene Williams OFS, 80, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:18 p.m. Monday March 25, 2024. Ronald was born on January 12, 1944, in Bloomington to Harry E. and Ruth L. (Taylor) Williams. He married Denise Schuler on November 26, 1982, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are his one sister, Cheryl (Garry) Niemeyer; nieces and nephews, Angela (Jeff), Kayt (Katev), Maggie, Justin, Jessica (Jake) and Nick (Alana); great nieces and nephews, Alison (TJ), Tori, Alex, Katelyn, Silas, Akhil, Mae, Jay, Gerald, Anika; one great-great niece, Paisley and on the way; in-laws, Debi (Donny), Marty (Lea), and beloved dog Prince Harry of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew, Lenny Carmean; father and mother-in-law, Gregory and Mary Ann Schuler; one brother-in-law, Jerry Schuler. Ron graduated from Bloomington High School in 1962 and served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1966. Ron received his bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Illinois State University. Ron worked at State Farm as an Analyst. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington and Order of Franciscan Seculars Saint Margaret Cortona. Upon retirement he volunteered at the Humane Society, St. Vincent De Paul Society Food Pantry and worked part-time for the IRS. His visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday April 5, 2024, at Carmody Flynn Funeral Home. His funeral will be held 11:00 am Saturday April 6, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington. The inurnment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society 711 North Main Street, Bloomington, Illinois 61701 or Habitat for Humanity 103 West Jefferson Street, Bloomington, Illinois 61701.
