Been very reluctant to share some of my weekly activities because I didn't want to upset too many people.  I have been golfing on Saturday's as the golf courses here are considered needed so people can get outside and exercise.  However; only one person per cart to maintain " Social Distancing".  (What an asinine ne,w made up  phrase).  Walking the course is still accepted.  I love Arizona!

Been making face masks for us, family, and others as needed or requested.

Love you all!

Jim

I hope you all had a good 4th of July.  I had the enjoyment of shooting off fireworks in the road in front of our house.  Does having so much fun make me a "pyro"?

What ever state you are residing in I hope you are well and still enjoying life!

We are planning a Viking Ocean Cruise in December that leaves from Miami and goes to the Panama Canal and back to Miami.  I eaves on Dscember 6 and returns on December 20,2020.  If you are up to it I invite you to join us on this adventure.

Still looking forward to seeing you in September at the 75th BD party and remember..... Nothing in the rule book says you must leave a fortune to your children!

XXXOOO,

JT

Mike,

If I may respond to some of your questions I will post my opion on them.

1) If masks are requied by the state you are in then you need to wear a mask.

2) Social distancing is is an oxymoron invented to make thing look better or acceptable.  Safe distancing is more acceptable.

3) I wearing a mask makes you more comfortable in a group gathering you should wear one without feeling uncomfortable.  Your presence at the gathering is what is important.

4) Perhaps we could have an "Ugly Mask" contest similar to the infamous "Ugly Sweater" contests that are held at Christmas.

My opins are not necessarily the same as the rest of the Reunion Committee.

JT

In response to Mike Tronnes and Jim Tompkins, I will be sending a note to the Reunion Committee re the 75th Birthday Bash to get their opinions on the event.  However, I've already been in touch with Marce, Patty Stevens, Pat Saign and Cliff Amundson and we are all in agreement that while we're really bummed about it, we think the event should be cancelled.  As many of you have mentioned, we are unfortunately in the "high risk" category and it just doesn't make sense to put ourselves right smack into a big group of people with no way to socially distance in a crowded room.

We have some alternatives - we can wait till the 55th Class Reunion, we can have a 76th Birthday Bash (assuming the virus is either vastly diminished and/or there's a working vaccine), or perhaps someone else has a good idea.  (You'd think with all the time on my hands that I could come up with some creative solutions but nope, nothin's happening up in the old noggin.)  indecision

Take care and stay well and watch for the probable cancellation notice here on Class Creator.

All the best, Pat

I have to agree that under the current circumstances with the virus coming back with a fury, it would be prudent to cancel the upcoming reunion party.  I would like to see everyone at the 55 year reunion!!  I certainly would be in favor of trying for the 75/76 reunion next year if conditions allow.  I have been looking forward to this reunion for a long time to celebrate 3/4 of a century but I have made the decision that it would be too dangerous to attend a large gathering where masks and social distancing are not practical.  Again, I vote for trying next year😊. I hope all my classmates are doing well and staying safe and hope to see everyone next year.  May God bless everyone in these perilous times!!!!

I also agree that it is not wise to have the party this year their will be to many old people there.  Lets try for next year if reasonable.

I get the distinct impression there was going to be a bunch of old people at the proposed birthday party.  If you were to present the change to a vote I would most likely be the desenting vote; however I have so many grand memories of you all as class mates and play mates I will agree to putting the reunion off.

I must point out that our 55th reunion was in 2018.  Let us shoot for a 76th BD party some time next year and attempt to get as many of those still alive to attend (masked or unmasked).

Sincerley,

Hugs, Kisses, Handshake or Elbow Bump,

Jim

Sorry about the 55 reunion!  I wasn't paying attention and just repeated a previous message.  Our 60th reunion will be in 2023 (3years)!  Even though it will only be three years to our next important date, I would still vote to have the 75th birthday bash in 2021.

Valerie H Otteson (MacDONALD)

I think it was a wise decision to cancel the reunion this year.  The way our country is dealing with Covid-19 it may be 2013 before we will be alble to gather together.  Both of my children live in Europe, one in Denmark the other in Luxuembourg.  Both countries shut down much earlier than ours and have been much more restrictive.  Both had recently opened their borders to a few countries, however today Denmark started closing their borders, which included Luxuembourg due to rising numbers.  This is a country that has required everyone wear a mask from day one.  There was a 2,000 Euro fine if you weren't.  Everyone in the country is being tested for the virus and the government sent every one 50 masks.  However when they started to gradually open up some people held private parties.   My grandchildren were looking forward to a week trip to Denmark to see their cousins which now is not happening.

I hope you all are staying safe and I look forward to when we can meet in person again.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Stromberg, a friend from high school days. I haven’t seen Bill for a very long time, he has been living in Thailand for many years now but through Facebook had reconnected with him. I send my condolences to his family both here and in Thailand, peace to you all.
RIP Bill.

l haven’t  been on this sight often, but have followed some of the headlines. So sorry as I see notifications of deaths of our classmates. Would love to try to make it to one of our future reunions. These certainly are strange times with Covid, and so much more! We have homes in Indiana and Florida and go between the two. As many of you have expressed, so grateful God is in control! Thank you to those of you who have stayed in touch and continue to plan times to reunite. I certainly cherish memories from our high school years. Seems like another lifetime, Glad to catch up on a few updates from your lives,

Pattie Dahlin (Munyon)

Curt and I were so saddened to hear of Jim Soine's passing.  He really did light up a room and made you feel so welcome with a big bear hug and sweet kiss on the cheek (at least for all the girls). ;-)

Although we weren't in close contact, we know he was a wonderful father and husband and will be mightily missed by his family and all his friends. I know I'll miss seeing him "cut a rug" with Bunny or Barb Hoaglund at the reunions.  I always wanted to ask him to teach me those wonderful dance steps but I was too shy - now my chance is gone - carpe diem everyone!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Barb and the entire family.  May all their happy memories sustain them in this sad time.

We were all saddened to hear of the passing of classmate Jim Soine.  Kay Lancette and I attended his funeral service last Friday.  It was a very lovely service.  Several classmates attended.  Our deep condolences to Barb and the family.  He will be sadly missed, especially at our class events and reunions in the future.  RIP Jim!

Merry Christmas!

I hope you all take the time to let your family in for a short while on this Christmas day in a year that so many have chosen to stay away from each other.

And a Merry Christmas to all our classmates, and a Happy New Year 2021 to come.  We did get to see my sons for Christmas at Scott's house.  There were just 5 of us there, but it was GREAT!!!  We had icy and snowy roads out to Prior Lake.  Santa would have loved it!!

Take care everybody and hope this finds everyone well and staying safe.  We still hope to get to AZ this winter when things settle down a bit more.  Meanwhile, I am frozen!!   Let's try for a '63 gathering in the Spring.  I miss you all.  Lee
