Gary William Retter1957 - 2014Gary William Retter passed away on November 17, 2014 from natural causes. He was born on August 5, 1957 in Boise, Idaho to William and Jeane (Betty) Retter. He graduated from Boise High School, and received his associate degree from Boise State University. He married Shelley Cromwell in 1982 in Boise. During high school, Gary began working on old cars in order to support his love of building and racing dune buggies. After 10 years of working at the Gamekeeper Restaurant, Gary and his high school buddy, Mike, turned their hobby into an import auto repair business that would become known throughout the area. His real passion, however, was riding motorcycles. Whether on his dirt bike or his dual sport, he loved adventuring throughout Idaho, telling stories by the campfire, and hanging out at the cabin in McCall. Sunday night dinners will never be the same.Gary is survived by his wife Shelley, his three children: Mackenzie (Travis) Becker of Boise, Alex (Whitney) Retter of Twin Falls, Paige Retter of San Francisco, four grandsons: Camden, Logan, Colton, and Xavier Becker, his mother Betty Retter, sister Beth Schrimsher, and lots of in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Retter. Services will be held Monday, November 24, at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 2206 N. Cole Road in Boise.
