Melvin Lloyd Goforth
December 30, 1940 ~ December 26, 2022

Melvin Lloyd Goforth, 81, died on December 26, 2022 in Amarillo. Services are 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2022 at Diversity Church with Pastor Dan Powers officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. The family will greet visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29 at the funeral home. 

Melvin was born on December 30, 1940 in Bengal, Oklahoma to William A. and Florence Davis Goforth. He married Sharon Rambo on November 21, 1969 in Bangs, Texas. He worked for several newspapers including Borger News Herald, Amarillo Globe News, and Brownwood Bulletin. He was also Vice President of operation of Tech Spray. Melvin loved riding horses and playing pool. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon, and his brother, George Goforth.  

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Kevin Goforth and William Goforth; daughters, Kimbra Elgin and husband, Rick and Karen Duncan and husband, Max, all from Amarillo. Melvin was blessed with six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
