Jackie "Hawk" Holcomb, 67, of Llano passed away on Feb. 20, 2007. He was born Sept. 15, 1939 in San Saba County to Ruth (Powell) and Clinton Marion Holcomb. Jackie married Peggy Jo Hawkins on Nov. 3, 1962 in Llano. He had lived in Llano most of his life and was an auto mechanic and pipeline operator and was a member of Pipeline Union Local 178.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Peggy Jo Holcomb of Llano; son Gordon Ray Holcomb and wife Ruby of Llano; mother Ruth Churchwell of Llano; sister Mariann H. Otto and husband Frank of Llano; brother Clinton Powell Holcomb and wife Margaret of Lampasas; daughter-in-law Kay Holcomb of Marble Falls; three grandchildren, Desirae Lynn Holcomb, Dalton Lee Holcomb and Emma Louise Holcomb and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Clinton in 1946 and son Sammy Holcomb in 2005.

Services for Jackie were held Feb. 25 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Chapel in Llano at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Brett Willis officiating. There was a visitation on Feb. 24 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home with family present to greet visitors. Interment followed the service Sunday at the Holcomb family cemetery in Llano County. Pallbearers were Sam Rogers, Clayton Wissner, Tom Hill III, Jerry Gildon, Sam Cordell, and Irvin Ahrlett. Honorary pallbearers were Dale Scott, Mike McPherson, Max Croft, Walter Roberts, Jim Cordell, and Keith Morgan.
