Barbara Ann Mathis, 61, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died April 21, 2001 at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville. She was born December 25, 1939 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clyde Henry and Esther Nell Jones Mathis. She was a physical therapist and a Methodist.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ann Katherine Stander of Saint Peteresburg, Russia; her parents, Clyde and Esther Mathis of Huntsville; one brother, Carl Bruce Mathis of Charlottestown, Prince Edward Island, Canada; and one sister, Rosemary Louise Butterbaugh of Rising Sun, Indiana.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas with Rev. Frank Cook officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brashers Funeral Home of Huntsville. Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville or Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville.

She was lovely, perhaps angelic is more deserving, and talented. I remember the last time I saw her was in the WT cafeteria. She inquired if I were driving back to Borger for the weekend and, if so, could she go along. I had other plans and to this day I have sometimes dwelled on what we would have talked about during that 90-mile drive.
