Robert "Bob" Charles Poston

San Diego, CA

November 7, 1939 - November 4, 2025

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."                            II Timothy 4:7-8

Robert (Bob) Charles Poston, born November 7, 1939, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Borger, Texas, Bob joined the United States Navy in 1958. While stationed in Japan in 1961, he met the love of his life, Fujiko Higashi, whom he married. They shared 61 wonderful years together. In 1967, while Bob was stationed in Hawaii, their son, Robert Carl Poston, was born.

Bob proudly served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy. As a Command Master Chief, he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for helping to develop a leadership program known as LMET, which is still in use today. During his military career, Bob also earned a master’s degree in business.

Following his retirement from the Navy, Bob went on to become a store manager with Chief Auto Parts, later known as AutoZone. During this time, he had the special opportunity to work alongside his son for six years, each of them serving as store managers.

Bob found joy in many hobbies and interests, including reading, building an extensive family tree on Ancestry.com, crafting award-winning competition chili with his close friend Richard Breke, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He also continued his service by remaining actively involved in his local VFW well into his later years.

Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Fujiko Poston; his son, Robert Poston; his grandchildren, Alyssa Million, Katrina Harper, and Joshua Poston; and his great-grandchildren, Malakai Million, Elijah Million, and Oliver Harper.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. In Lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the VFW in Bob's name. Thank you.
