Harold A. Smith, 60, of Plainview, died at 2:07 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at Covenant Hospital of Lubbock.

Services were held at 2 p.m. yesterday at Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview. Officiating was Reverend Bob Fagan, pastor of Memorial Baptist Church of Lubbock. Interment was at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lemons Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Mr. Smith was a native of Seymour but a long time resident of Borger where he attended and graduated from school. Afterward, he attended both the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas Arlington on football scholarships. He married his wife Janet Kay Hatley in 1960 at Phillips. He relocated to Plainview in 1976. Mr. Smith worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years and was the postmaster in Plainview for 21 years.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Janet of the home; one daughter, Stacey Stevens of Plainview; two sons, Michael Dean Smith of Monument, Colo., and Mark Darren Smith of Garland; his mother, Bernice McGlaun of Plainview; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Boys Ranch or the American Heart Association.
