Elwanda Worthey Blackshear

Elwanda Blackshear, 68, of Tigertown, TX passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas TX.


Mrs. Blackshear, the daughter of Walt & Clara Crutchfield Worthey, was born July 28, 1940, in the Ubell Community of Fannin County TX.


She worked a number of years at Westinghouse prior to her marriage to Paul David Blackshear on May 29, 1959. Through the years she has been a substitute teacher at West Lamar and Chisum Schools. She was a faithful member of the Cottonwood Church of God and a tireless volunteer in her community.


Survivors include her husband, Paul David Blackshear, three sisters, Louise Thomas of Sumner, Doretha Lane of Paris and Margie Havins of Paris, a sister-in-law, Bea Worthey of Fritch, a very special nephew, Dylan Worthey & wife Beth and their children, Raven & Lillie, a special little friend, Hannah Hurst along with numerous nieces, nephews and a plethora of friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, A. W. Worthey and David Worthey.


Casket bearers will be: Jeff Hurst, Bobby Ragan, W. H. Brumley, Lynn McQueen, Cole McDaniel & Paul Puckett. Honorary bearers will be: Tommy Speed, Jackie Speed, Larry Worthey, Terry Worthey and Gary Dale Lane.


The family requests that memorials be made to the Cottonwood Church of God Building Fund in Elwanda’s memory.
