
PANHANDLE - Carla Meyer Dittberner, 45, died Monday, May 12, 2003, in Austin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in White Deer with the Rev. Calvin Winters, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch, and the Rev. Harold Abney of Plainview officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Dittberner was born Jan. 5, 1958, in Amarillo, to Carl and Carol Meyer of Skellytown. She was married to Terry Don Dittberner on Dec. 28, 1976. Carla was a mother, homemaker and served as church secretary of First Baptist Church in White Deer, where she and her family were members for many years. She taught children's Sunday school as well as children's choir and G.A.'s.
She had a passion for music and loved singing as a member of the church praise team, and had been the church pianist. Carla was a past member of Veranda Blanco Study Club. After moving to Austin in 1997, she became a member of Hays Hills Baptist Church in Buda. Carla was a cancer survivor for 20 years following a bone marrow transplant in 1984 in Seattle.
Survivors include her husband of Austin; a daughter, Tammy Michelle Yourman and husband, Brian, of New Braunfels; a son, Trey Jonathan of College Station; her parents of Skellytown; three brothers, Gary Meyer and wife, Cheryl, of Skellytown, Greg Meyer and wife, Constance, of Austin and John Meyer and wife, Susan, of Houston; her grandfather, E.S. "Cap" Byars of Memphis; and her father-in-law, Ed Dittberner of Panhandle.
The family suggests memorials be to Harrington Cancer Center of Amarillo; Lonestar Hospice, 1212 Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, TX 78664; or First Baptist Church of White Deer.
