David Sorensen, retired Seattle Police Detective, passed away on April 25, 2022, at the age of 79.

Dave was born in Ely, Nevada. When he was four months old his family moved to the greater Seattle area. He attended Bothell High, where in his junior year he served as a class officer. He took part in the football, tennis and track teams, specializing in pole vaulting.

Dave moved to Costa Mesa, California to work for the police department, first as a crime scene photographer, then as a patrolman and later as a detective. In 1969, he moved to Washington to be a Bellevue police officer for a year while applying to the Seattle Police Department. He was hired by the department on July 17,1970.

He retired February 20, 1981.

He also served as the Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Vanco Associates, Inc., in Edmonds, which dealt in Commercial Park and Recreation equipment.

Dave built a house in Chelan in 1986, then in 2000 moved to a condominium on a golf course in Hawaii. They moved back to Chelan and built another house in 2005. Then they bought a house in Sun City West and lived there until 2014. They sold their Arizona house and moved to Port Ludlow to their forever home.

Daughter Robin preceded Dave in death. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joanne, daughters Lisa and Angela, son Jeb, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
