In Memory

David Wayson

David Wayson

This obituary appeared on the website of the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville.

David Earl Wayson
September 22, 1943 - December 22, 2017

On the fall equinox of 1943 Ardlyn and Earl Wayson welcomed their first born, little David, who grew into a handsome young man, and graduated from Bothell High School, Bothell, WA. He then went to work at the Everett, WA Boeing Plant for ten years. During that time he also served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve.

In 1972 he became a Seattle Firefighter. He also became a paramedic for fire years in the department and then worked in dispatch for twelve years. He retired after 27 years of service. Following retirement he and his wife, Sharon, relocated to her childhood home near Valley, WA.

During the last approximately ten years he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Stevens County Fire Districts #1 and #4. In District #1 he was consistently a top responder until throat cancer forced his full retirement. “Firefighter” and “David Wayson” are synonymous! He so loved his time helping the communities he lived in through his work on the engines and as an EMT. He was respected by both co-workers and those he assisted for his dedication, integrity, compassion, knowledge and his personable nature.

Words cannot express how much he loved his children. He had two wonderful children, Debbie Lynn and Jonathan David, from a previous marriage to Sharon Kilmer. As grandchildren entered his life, he fully embraced his role as a grandfather. He and second wife Sharon enjoyed over 30 years of joy, sharing life fully. David was truly her partner through the life that they built.

David is survived by his wife of 33 years, who absolutely adored him, Sharon Joy (Greene) Wayson; children Debbie (Tom) Pulley and Jon Wayson; grandchildren Amber Pulley and Josh Pulley; sister Judy Higgins; brother Michael (Stevie Chambers) Wayson; former wife Sharon Kilmer and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Those of his family that passed on before him were his mother, Ardlyn and father Earl; one sister Diann Sandlin.

A brief Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Jump Off Catholic Cemetery on Church Road, Valley, WA at 11:00 a.m. Directly following the service please join in a Celebration of David’s life and hosted meal at the Loon Lake Elementary School (4001 Maple St., Loon Lake, WA). In lieu of flowers please make any contributions in David’s name to Stevens County Districts #1 or #4 so that always needed new gear can be purchased for our volunteers.

David was my best friend in high school. He was always had a positive and was kind. I also went to Everett CC with  him, we both worked at Boeing. He was a groomsman in my wedding. Finally we both worked on the BHS Class of 61 reunion committee. I will miss him as a true friend.

I also worked for the City of Seattle but I was unaware that David worked also as a first responder until a Reunion at Jim Francis home a couple years ago.  I have always thought very highly of David but our paths only crossed occasionally.  Too often we look back and say I wished that I got to know that person better.

David was such a dear and sweet classmate. He will be missed. So glad I went to our Birthday party a year or so ago and was able to chat and laugh with he and his darling wife. Rest now and save a place for us to party. 💕 Kae Miller
