I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. I remember him as a vibrant person --- great to be around. When his baby sister was born (I think we were in 6th or 7th grade) Dave came running up to me all excited that he talked his parents into them giving the newborn's middle name "Brooke".

I actually didn't see him after we graduated, but I saw his family. I taught music to grade schoolers in Northshore for a few years. In summers, I taught kids private lessons at their homes. Many of them became social - drinking tea with the mother after the lesson. Eventually a student's mother said "we know you as Miss Doyle, but what's your first nane?" I told them it's "Brooke" and my student said excitedly "that's MY middle name"!!! So I asked if Dave was her brother and, of course, he was. I told them that Dave came to school and told me years ago. This isn't a big story, but I still think it's amazing that I spent 2-3 hours in his home weekly after college.

I wish his family comfort. My heart goes out to my "namesake".

Brooke, that was a great memory of Dave Dewey .  It seems, we made some good bonds with Classmates in Band class. It sure bring back memories.

I am so sorry to hear of David's passing.  It does strike me, however, that he was a drill sergeant in the Army, considering their respective rough and tough reputation, which did not fit his persona, as I recall.   David was a good friend; funny, kind, considerate, and an overall good soul, but not tough or mean, as drill sergeants typically were back then.   But, of course, those times were different, and we had to do what we had to do during that era, the Viet Nam War.  Good for David, and I am sure he was also successful later in life.  God bless his soul, and God bless his family and friends.

I am sorry to hear of David's passing. He was a neighbor of mine when we were in school. I remember he had a older brother (which I heard died in California years ago) but I don't remember a little sister. Maybe that was after they moved.  He always seemed like a nice kid but we never did things together. I rember which house he lived in but I think it was torn down and a new house built there. Haven't seen him siince high school.  My heart goes out to his son and anyother family still living.
