My condolences to Neil's family. May he RIP.Bob Kelley
Neil and I had a few adventures, all rather benign. The one that comes to mind is from when I drove my mother's Peugeot to Chehalis, with Neil an an other passenger (can't remember his name). That was the state championship basket ball game. After the game we went to get into the car for the disgruntled drive home. The car had a flat tire. Luckily, the spare had enough air so that after changing tires we could drive directly home. I saw Neil at the UW when we both were both freshmen majoring in engineering. The first year was general engineering, before declaring a major. A travelling salesman brought his tired, '57 Chrysler, to the Union Bay Garage, the company founded by his grandfather, where Neil and Paul spent a lot of time during the school summer vacations. The car needed a transmission rebuild. Because of the very high mileage, the salesman did not want to repair it, so he sold the car to Neil for $200. Chrysler was the favored car make in their family. The car was a stealth muscle car. There were two intake manifold options, an approximately normal one that provided low RPM HP and one with the dual four-barrel carburetors each mounted on a separate, long intake manifold. The carburetor for the left bank of cylinders was on the right side of the engine compartment and the opposite for the right bank of cylinders. I rode in it once, when Neil and I went to an event at the Seattle Center. He sold the car just before he joined the navy. After he left school I saw him at his parents house shortly before he left for the navy. I saw him once or twice when I had minor repair work done on my car at their shop. Their father had passed and he and Paul were running the business. They had sold the property, on Union Bay Place, just north of NE 45th Street and east of University Village in Seattle. They anticipated the need for long term care for their other. They rented the property for a few years before the new owner ended the rental and built a new office type building. Neil and Paul both retired. I saw him at the 50th reunion and he said he was active in auto racing.

Neil was a good soul, and very well respected by his classmates. Kind, friendly, personable, studious , and always a friend to all; he was a great member of our class. God bless his soul, and God bless his family and friends.
