Herman/Les passed on on May 24th, 2025. Herman's wife Susan (Ochs) Raley, also our classmate of 1965 sent the following obituary on Herman ‘Les’ Raley.
Herman was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, business partner, employer, and friend. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed back packing, mountaineering, cross country and alpine skiing, and white water canoeing. Herman was also an accomplished guitar player, who filled out home with music. Herman attended numerous personal discovery and Tantra classes, and was a founding member of Art on the Avenues, a group that brought sculptures to Wenatchee streets. The day after our class’ 70th birthday celebration at Nardone’s, Herman was doing his after work ride on Highway 97. He was rear-ended by a local driver driving an empty side dump semi. He sustained multiple broken bones and a traumatic brain injury, which affected his balance, ending his ability to participate in sporting adventures. It also became too difficult for him to play guitar. Prior to this life-altering event, Herman was a master cabinet maker and co-owner of a construction company based in Cashmere, Washington. He raised the bar for innovate design and construction practices from Lake Chelan to Lake Wenatchee and beyond. He served as president for 40 years and retired in the spring of 2019. His loss is deeply felt. We remember his love, his laughter, and his spark.

It was with great sadness that I read about Herman's (Les's) passing. May his family remember the good times and how well he dealt with life. May his life be for a blessing. AmenSusan Albright (Nelson)
I am so sorry to hear of Herman (Les) passing. He was always an upbeat soul and it was fun to grow up with him. I have fond memories of playing on the creek and cooking adventures in our younger years. Sue, you were involved in those too! It sounds like he had many talents as well. Such a kind soul and I am sorry for your loss.
