Roxi left in ,I think, our junior year. married Lorenzo Llanas- had 2 sons- Rhozen and David- both, as far as I know still live in the Mt. Morris IL area- both have 2 children.
Roxi went on to get a nursing degree, worked as a nurse and later when theyy moved worked for a publishing company, the thing we get in the mail looking for subscriptions .
While Lois and I were living in the MPLS area we decided we should connect with "the girls" Pat. Karen,Roxi and the 2 0f us.Pat wasn't able too make it. Plans were made and carried out and we had "The time of our lives"[ask John Weeks about one of the evenings].A couple years later Lois and I went to see Roxi and special moments again. In Aug of that same year Rhozen called and said if you want to see mom you need to come- she has cancer[think maybe Roxi had shared while there or shortly after that she just didn't feel good and did later share that she was going to have treatment for cancer- Lorenzo, her husband, had a couple years earlier died from my kind of cancer]
MEMORY ISN'T PERFECT, BUT I DO KNOW KAREN. LOIS AND I WENT TO SEE ROXI IN OCT. OF THAT YEAR AND HAD IN MY MIND A MIRACLE KIND OF EXPERIENCE.PRIOR TO OUR COMING ROXI WAS WEAK UNABLE TO EAT MUCH ETC. ONCE WE ARRIVED WE STAYED UP LATE TALKING, WENT SHOPPING ,OUT TO LUNCH, DINNER AT A SPECIAL PLACE FOR SHE AND PACO A RIVER BOAT RIDE ETC. KAREN WAS THE NURSE. ROXI'S BOYS STOPPED BY AND COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW WELL SHE WAS DOING. KAREN LEFT THE NGIHT B/4 LOIS AND I SO WE WERE IN CHG OF THE NURSING ROLE- FORTUNATELY SHE DIDN'T NEED US. The next morning the 3 of us had breakfast ,gave hugs, said our good byes and were on our way back to MN stopping enroute to see Heen Molberg who was in a nursing home.I spent the night with Lois and the next morning flew back to AZ. When Tom picked me up he shared that Roxi had died. I believe we and she were given a miracle and she had done what she needed/wanted ,as in addition, to our visit the day we left another friend was coming to tape her life story for her kids/gdkids. She died later that night.
To me It doesn't matter what you believe ,for me ,I will always feel we had miracle moments.
Karen and Lois, please feel free to edit this if my believing in the miracle of the time isn't correct.
