MELVIN SHARP Melvin V. Sharp passed away Oct. 11, 2012, in Chelan, Wash., following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born June 20, 1923, in English, Ind., he came to Boulder City in 1933 after his father went to work on the construction of Hoover Dam. After graduating from Boulder City High School in 1943, Mel joined the U.S. Marine Air Force, serving in the Pacific in
World War II. Following his discharge, he attended UNR on a track and football scholarship. He began his career as a Washington State wildlife agent in 1948, serving communities throughout the state. Mel retired after 33 years. The next 34 years, he lived in Chelan and was actively involved with the Lions Club and Wenatchee Eagles Club. He will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched. His sense of humor captured us all. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Evelyn: son, Johnny Sharp; and two brothers, Carl Sharp and Richard Sharp. He is survived by his wife, Delores of Chelan; daughter, Linda John; three stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, John Sharp and Bill Sharp of Boulder City, and Butch Sharp of Gig Harbor, Wash. Services were private. In his honor, contributions to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation.
