SHIRLEY PHILLIPS Shirley Baker Phillips, a resident of Boulder City since 1931, passed away October 29, 2019. She was born October 27, 1927 in Telluride, CO to P.J. and Ruth Baker. She is survived by her son, Robert Phillips (Lynn) of Las Vegas; and two grandsons, Matthew and Christopher Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William L. Phillips in 2004; her oldest son, William G. Phillips in 2008; and her sister, Barbara Baker Sansom in 2005. Shirley attended the local schools graduating from Boulder City High School in 1945. While in high school, she was active in the Rainbow Girls, was a past worthy advisor and went through all the chairs in the organization. Shirley met and married William L. Phillips in 1947. Her husband was a native Nevadan having been born in McGill, NV in 1924. The original Phillips family came to McGill, NV in 1890. After high school, she worked in the city office in the utility department and attended UNLV. She sold real estate in Boulder City and was associated with Collins Realty and Lewis Homes. Shirley was interested in the study of psychology and philosophy during her lifetime. She was told by friends and acquaintances that she had a good sense of humor.
