Roger Brim, Class of 1945, b. ca 1927
This is a wild and different research trip:
Family lived on Denver street in BC in 1940. Parents: Philip and Ruth Brim. Children: Roger D., age 13 and Homer J., age 15. All four were b. in Utah. Previously came from Los Angeles County in 1935. Father works as chief guide for Bureau of Reclamation.
Going back ten years: Family was living in White Pine, NV in 1930. In the household was: Philip, 34, married for the first time at age 33, b. in Utah. Wife Ruth, age 23, married for the first time at age 17, b. in Utah – so this is her second (or third) marriage to Philip Brim. The children in the household: Homer Oleson, age 6, stepson to Philip, b. in Utah. And Rodger Dean Lorenson (or Sorenson?), stepson, age 3-4/12, b. in Utah. (Were either or both bio sons of Ruth?????)
This has happened before when people get counted twice in two census. Besides White Pine, NV above, Homer was also listed in Monroe, Utah in 1930 in the following household:
Ole K. Olsen, 79, b. in Norway, Hannah Olsen, his wife, age 72, b. in Norway.
Also listed in the household is Homer Olsen, (son of Ole), age 32, b. in Utah, and Homer Jr. Olsen (grandson to Ole), age 5, b. in Utah.
In June 1942, Homer Junior Olsen, age 18, registered his name and info in the US WW II Draft Cards for Young Men 1940-17. He listed his birthday as 7 Apr 1924. Registration took place in BC. His employer was Mc Neel Construction Co. and his next of kin was listed as Phil Brim, his stepdad.
I cannot find any info on death date for Roger Dean Lorenson, or Sorenson, or Brim – whatever last name he decided to use.
I found info about a Homer Olsen, b. 13 Jul 1924 in the US Dept pf Vets Affairs – this birth date is different than what was listed on the WW II Draft Card of 7 Apr 1924 for our Homer. Don't know if Homer found out he had a different birthdate or if this is a big coincidence of same name, close birthdays. Anyway, this Homer died 12 Aug 1974
Homer is listed in the classes of BCHS as Homer Olsen – active. So I took a chance and sent him an email asking for help regarding Roger. Homer may be dead – he might be the person that informed the website that Roger was dead and we will never know – too many names, too many dates. Always interesting though.
