James H Davis
February 27, 1928 – October 12, 2017
James Davis entered human existence in Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, nine months prior to his birth day of February 27, 1928. He was the last surviving son of the late Lee Zimrude Davis and Robert Willis Davis. James was preceded in death by brothers Robert Jean Davis (older) and Lee Wllis Davis (younger). James graduated from Boulder City High School outside of Las Vegas in 1946 and received a BS of Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1951.
Following graduation, James changed careers. James spent three years attending an Episcopal Seminary, the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkley CA. After graduation and ordination in 1954 he became the Curate at Trinity Church in Reno for two years, then moved to Emmett, Idaho in 1956 as Rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. James became the initial priest of the new congregation of St Stephen's Church in Boise in 1962 and remained there until he retired in 1989. James served for 10 years as Chairman of the Episcopal Church's camp committee and organized the United Cerebral Palsy summer camping program at Paradise Point near McCall, Idaho.
By far, the most significant event in his life was his love of Alberta Mullen Davis. They met on the campus of the University of Nevada Reno and married on August 31, 1951, at St. Stephen's Chapel in Reno. James and Alberta had a glorious marriage of 53 years until her death in 2004. James is survived by his children, Leslie Ann Snyder, Stephen James Davis, his wife Cynthia Davis, and by his grandchildren Patrick Snyder, Stephan James Davis, and Cassidy Nash Davis.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Jim and Alberta Davis Education Foundation.
The time to honor the Lord and His Creation and James' life will be scheduled at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Boise, Idaho in 4-6 weeks. Please contact the church for more information.
