SHEARL NIELSON Shearl Gale Nielson, 83, passed away July 2, 2012 in White Salmon, Wash. He was born Sept. 11, 1928 in Hurricane, Utah to Hyrum and Maggie Nielson. He was a long-time resident of Nevada, where he graduated from Boulder City High School in 1946 and moved on to college at the UNR. He worked for the Bureau of Water and Power in Boulder City, Clark County Sheriff's Office in Las Vegas, and then Nevada Armored Transport, retiring at 63. He was an avid athlete, family man and great storyteller. He enjoyed gardening, restoring old cars, collecting guns and coins. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Shearlyn Alires; his parents; two sisters; and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, of 24 years, Elaine Nielson; five children, Shonna Taylor of Carson, Wash., Jackie Burns and Kent Nielson of Stevenson, Wash., Brent Nielson and Brenda Sidlo-Nielson of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services were previously held July 7, outside at Laurelbrook Garden, Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon.
