The son of Fred and Thelma Florence (Goss) Kiehn, Fred moved with his parents to El Monte, CA and later to Boulder City, NV, where he graduated from highschool in 1948. In October of 1950 he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and served a tour of duty in the Korean Conflict. On April 22, 1952 he was married to Betty Jean Stocks in Ocean Side, CA. He returned to Korea for a second tour of duty and was honorably discharged in the rank of SSgt. They then made their home in Clinton where he worked with his father in the welding business. He worked a number of years for Janzen Sporting Goods and he retired from the Kellwood Company at its closing.
His wife preceded him in death in 1992 and also he was preceded in death by his parents. He later married Mary Jane Son-Heinrichs in Clinton. They made their home in Clinton where he owned and operated a golf cart business until failing health forced him to retire.
