Otto J. Littler, Jr. Otto J. Littler, Jr. entered this world on September 2, 1930, in Denver Colorado. He died peacefully in his sleep on June 14, 2017, at his home in Novato, CA. Otto was the first son of Otto Littler Sr. and Lydia Miller Littler. His father moved the family to the Boulder Dam Project in 1931, as a head engineer on the project. Two years later, his brother David was the first child born in Boulder City, Nevada. Otto lived his life in Boulder City until he attended the University of Nevada, Reno and was in the first OTTO LITTLER, JR. class of UNLV held on the campus of Las Vegas High School. He met his wife Joyce Flournoy of Likely, CA, at the University of Reno.  They recently celebrated their marriage of 66 years. For many years, they had a home on his son’s ranch in Likely. Every summer they entertained many of the children of friends in the Bay Area, plus their own grand children. They loaded them into the tiny 1915 Model “T” to travel the “tours” all over the west. Otto and Joyce retired early and traveled by cruises all over the world; later in life found them wintering in Parker, Arizona in their RV for six months. They were active in an RV group, bringing the group of 30 rigs, three times to the unique world of Modoc, where family held tours kept them well informed, with stays at Rich Hamel’s golf club, tours to the “home ranch,” sturgeon ponds at Pearce’s, antique cars at Rod’s, special dinners at the Brass Rail, Rod Weed’s Likely Café, and Rich’s barbeque. Otto was the proud parent of Richard Littler, wife Karen of Likely, CA, grandson Justin Littler, wife Megan and great granddaughter Hailee, of Chico, CA,  daughter Jette Selberg, wife of Ken Selberg  of Rohnert Park, CA., and two grandsons, Marshall Tipton and wife Christa of Anaheim, CA and Sterling Tipton of Santa Rosa, CA. Otto loved Modoc County.  He was an avid photographer, and spent hours there, getting the right shadows and clouds for all of his many photos. He had many antique cars, starting with a 1915 Model T.  He drove this car all over the west on car tours organized by Rod Flournoy.  He also owned a 1930 Model A sedan, a ”mobster car.”  Lastly, he owned a 1930 yellow, Model A Roadster with a mother-in-law seat in the rear. He was able to enjoy this car only one time. Otto was an Army veteran; a 55-year Mason of Mt. Mariah Lodge, Henderson, Nevada, a Shriner of Islam Lodge of San Francisco, CA, and later Ben Ali of Sacramento, CA for over 30 years. He was also a member of Scottish Rite. His love of music led him to being a member of the Islam Shrine band and for many years he coordinated the high school band pre-game of the annual East-west Shrine football game at Stanford University. Otto also sponsored several Modoc County children to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital for medical treatment. His mother, father, and brother preceded him in death.
