Regatta Queen of the Lake Mead speed boat races, "Lady of the Lake," Boulder City Damboree Queen, 37 years as a Heard Museum volunteer in Phoenix, Ariz., beloved wife of 57 years, best mom and friend a kid could ever have Daune MacKay Turner passed away Jan. 12, 2010 in Sun City, Ariz.
Daune and her family arrived in Boulder City in the mid-1930s where her dad, Harry MacKay, was an electrical engineer working on completion of the Boulder Dam. Her grandfather, Charles Peterson, was the chief ranger for Boulder City during the construction of the dam.
She loved her family, turquoise mining, hiking, traveling, Siamese cats and reading.
Daune is survived by her husband, Austin Turner, three children and eight grandchildren.
