Wes Pymm - Class Of 1949
|

WESLEY MILES PYMM Wesley M. Pymm, 83, passed away at home after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Wes was born in St. George, Utah on Feb. 8, 1931 to John and Jenney Pymm. He was one of eight children. Later the family moved to Boulder City, Nevada where he graduated Captain of his basketball team in 1949. In 1952 he and his twin brother Les were drafted into the U.S. Army (Korean War) where they spent a tour of duty in the area of Fairbanks, Alaska. He later attended Brigham Young University and then transferred to Fresno State College where he majored in Police Science. In 1956 he married Onita App from Massillon, Ohio and moved to Santa Monica, California where he became a police officer. He was a motorcycle and patrol officer, detective, supervisor and helicopter pilot and was also a licensed instructor of helicopters. He had two sons: Mike who was born in 1957 and Jeff born in 1961. He continued his education at California State College, graduating with a B. S. in Police Science and Administration in 1967. He retired from the Police Force due to injuries in the line of duty in 1973. He later became a licensed real estate salesman and also a private investigator. When he wasn't working he enjoyed playing basketball, softball, racquetball, tennis and golf. In 1978 he moved the family to Chico, CA. Never one to be idle, he became a senior instructor and trainer in citizens' tear gas classes and later became a tour bus driver and a city transit system driver for senior citizens. He was always on call to drive cancer patients for their appointments. He lost his wife of 42 years to a long battle of cancer in 1998. Wes was preceded in death death by brothers and sisters Marjorie Reed, Donald Levitt, Elaine Pymm, and Keith Pymm. He is survived by brothers John Pymm, twin Les Pymm, sister Arlene Pymm, his two sons, Robert Michael Pymm and Jeffrey Miles Pymm and Granddaughter Renee Elaine Pymm (Mike's daughter) and many good friends. One special friend was Connie Lee Eccles, whom he met up with at a High School Reunion in 1999. They enjoyed making many trips together domestically and abroad. A kinder and more gentle man you couldn't meet. If you asked Wes for something he arrived on your doorstep in short order with whatever the request was. He will be missed but never forgotten.
