WILLIAM BRIGGS In loving memory of William A. "Bill" Briggs, 83, of Pittsburgh, and a former resident of Boulder City, who passed away Oct. 12, 2016. Bill spent youth through high school in Boulder City, where his father, Ian, was chief of land use for the Bureau of Reclamation. After Boulder City High, he played football for Stanford and Ohio State universities, graduating with degrees in engineering followed by an ABD PhD in industrial management from MIT. Bill's long career followed his passion for computer science. He wrote the first computer program in the State of Ohio, and helped double the speed of the first computer processor. His international work inspired him to learn Italian in his 40's. Bill is survived by his second wife, of nearly 30 years, Charlene; his children, John (Kerry) of Barrington, Ill., and Joyce (Ed) of Portland, Ore.; and grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron and Eva. He also considered Charlene's three boys, David (Sandy), Randy (Debbie) and Marty, and their children as family. Bill will be missed by all, including his beloved dog, Nickie. Services will be private. Contact John Briggs (224) 634-8210 for information.
