Robert Eugene Sweet

October 7, 1932 ~ June 6, 2020 (age 87)

Robert Eugene Sweet, lifelong resident of Boulder City, Nevada passed away on June 6, 2020 at the age

of 87. “Bob” was born on October 7, 1932 in Las Vegas to Nebraska pioneers Earl Virgil and Edna Mae

(Parks) Sweet. His father was a train conductor involved in the construction of the Boulder Dam. During

his Sophomore yeObituaryar at Boulder City High School in 1949, Robert enlisted in the US Navy Reserves as a

Fireman on his 17th birthday. He spent the following summer assigned to navy destroyer USS

Wedderburn visiting South American ports and the Panama Canal Zone. Robert graduated from Boulder

City High School in June 1952 and was actively engaged in football, the Boulder City Junior Chamber of

Commerce, building and flying his model airplanes on the dry lake bed, and racing motorcycles in the

desert Hare & Hound events.

He married Dauphin (Maureen) Heaney in Kingman, Arizona on July 10, 1954 while Maureen was still 17.

Robert was recalled to active service from 1955 to 1957 where he served as an Engineman Third Class

aboard the minesweeper USS Gull in Long Beach, California. He left the US Navy Reserves in 1962 and

earned the National Defense Service Medal. Robert spent many years as an avid hunter, fisherman, and

boat pilot for the Rivera Hotel guiding celebrities on exclusive fishing trips across Lake Mead.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Maureen, daughter Virginia Muyres and her

husband Richard, and granddaughter Sahsha Adams.

Robert is survived by his daughter Athina (Tina) and George Cowan of Boulder City, son Robert (Kelly)

Sweet of Sequim WA, grandchildren Robert (Jennifer) Cowan of McGill NV, Rebecca (Gregory) Neifeld of

Ramona CA (U.S. Navy), Charlene Sweet and Jonathon Stevens of Honolulu HI (U.S. Army), Megan

Adams (Alex) of Boulder City, Angela Keven (Chad) of Boulder City and Stephanie (Alex) Gonzalez of

Henderson NV, great grandchildren McKenzie Cowan, Jordan Neifeld, Mary-Jane Neifeld, Sara Neifeld,

Oliver Eugene Neifeld, Daytin Sweet, Alexis Stevens, Lilly Stevens, Zayne Stevens, Prestyn Stevens,

Kaylee Bell, Julian Keven, Leone Keven, Dezi Keven, Aurelio Gonzalez and great-great grandson Raymond

Cowan-Millan.
