Michael was born in Los Angeles, California to the late Frank and Jeanette (Susan) MacIntyre.
He grew up in Boulder City, graduating from Boulder City High School in 1954. After graduating,
he served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy for four years, receiving several
commendations. Later, he earned his B.A. at the University of Texas El Paso, and then his M.A.
in Marriage and Family Counseling at Azusa Pacific University. Throughout his long career, he
was devoted to providing individual, family and group counseling in various locations in
Southern California. He was particularly expert in providing treatment to adult survivors of
childhood abuse. In the final decade of his career, he concentrated on providing out-patient
services in rural mental health facilities in desert communities. He moved to Laughlin, Nevada
in 2002 where he retired. Michael is sadly missed by his sisters, Vicki Agee and Marta Lubinsky
and her husband John. He also leaves behind his adult children; John Walston and partner Julie
Weir; Lisa Michelle Johnson and her children, Monica, Megan and Michael as well as her four
grandchildren; and August (Gus) Walston and his wife Melissa and son Grant. He also is
survived by his three nieces and two nephews and their children who were very fond of their
“Uncle Mikey”.
Michael was extremely bright, quick-witted and often hilariously funny. Michael loved living in
Laughlin during his retirement days and had many loyal friends there. With more leisure time,
he indulged his love of movies (collecting hundreds of DVDs), reading (joining the library book
club), and playing with his computer and IPad. Mike was very interested in politics and
supported many worthy causes. And as a coffee gourmand, he loved collecting coffees, coffee
makers and cups. Even after many years, Mike stayed close with some of his Boulder City
classmates and was very fond of them. Mike will be well-remembered and severely missed by
all who knew and loved him.

Margaret McCullough (Pappas) (1954)
I am so sorry to hear that Mike has died. I considered him a good friend . I saw him during the 50 year reunion and exchanged a couple of emails. Yes, he was bright, clever, funny and sensitive. He sat in the classroom seat behind me many times over the course of our education in Boulder City schools due to our Mc names. It was either Lanny McCune or Michael McIntyre behind Margaret McCullough. I will miss him. Truly, Margaret McCullough Pappas.
