SMSGT. JOHN MORTON U.S. Air Force, Retired John F. Morton, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away July 3, 2014, at home, surrounded and comforted by his family. John was born July 8, 1937, in New York City, to Frank and Mary (nee Bradley) Morton. The family relocated to Boulder City in 1952. Upon graduating from Boulder City High School in 1955, John honorably served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 27 years. He served during the Vietnam War and eight years at Nellis Air Force Base. John was awarded numerous medals and commendations. Upon retiring, he worked with the U.S. Postal Service until final retirement. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and NAUS. John traveled throughout the world and was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and New York Giants. John was a delightful man filled with wit, humor and great insight. John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy; and wife, Kathryn. John remarried and is survived by his wife, of 20 years, Norma; daughter, Mary Ellen (Dan) Bryant; brother, Frank (Linda); three grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three nieces. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. -
