My sophomore year of college was spent at UNLV and there was only one familiar face in my Modern Literature Class--Ronnie Lansford. Our families had been friends for many years, but we had lost touch after high school graduation. I remember the professor asking those who had published to raise their hands and Ronnie's hand went up with about half dozen others. I was so impressed and wondered at the same time, what am I doing here? Later over coffee he said that he was working on a novel, but I never heard if he finished it. If my memory serves me, I believe he had published poetry. Ronnie was a really great guy and my life was enriched by knowing him.
