OMG, hadn't heard the news.  When did he pass away?  He was one of my FAVS at BCHS.  Any details on the service or where we can send cards?

Skipper was the "best of the best" .  From grade school through HS we played a lot of baseball together...too many good memories to list here.... miss him, and think about him often... he was taken too soon for all who knew him...I was truly blessed to have the time with him...

Skipper died in 1990 but a loving memory is never too late. He was a member of the California Street Christmas tree gang; I was in the Ave H/Ave I gang (6th/7th grade). We raided each other's Christmas Tree forts. These memories last when all else fades away.

Thank you Robert Scott.  I thought I was losing it when I read the comments and was sure it had been a long time sinc elosing Skipper, but you are right in memories never fade, in fact as years pass they grow brighter.

When we were at The University Of Nevada @ Reno, we used to listen to the radio in the lobby. Whenever we were there and 'The Twist' came on from the radio station, he would jump up and start twisting. If he was taking a nap from studying, he set his alarm for the time that "The Twist" came on everyday in the lobby.

Just before the song came on, he would come into the lobby, and start twisting the second that the song began. The last time that I saw him was at a BCHS Basketball Game. He was on the floor by the entrance in a Wheel Chair. He wasn't with us very long after that .......

My thoughts of Skipper have never faded.  He was our class ICON, with so many attributes any way that you can think about!!  Like Larry noted, our times on the diamond are unforgetable.  How could that skinny guy with such small arms regularly knock the ball over left field fences??!!!  Did he ever miss those perimeter 3-point shots (course they were only worth 2 back in the days) in the gym?  I was fortunate to visit Skip at his home shortly before he passed.  That certainly has been a lasting memory, albeit a sad one, but glad that I got to say goodbye.  Reading classmates thoughts about him herein is very moving.  Glad we have not forgotten him.  Dick Tre

Does anyone remember the hat that Skipper wore in grade school?  It was a round brown skull-type hat that had a monkey face.  I don't remember ever seeing him without it and he wore it everywhere. Sitting behind him in class....I had a monkey face staring at me!  He was always fun.

Until we were about 6, Skiper was my best friend and constant playmate. I do remember his monkey hat, and I know why he got so good at baseball: he passionately loved the game even as a REALLY little guy.

We got into a lot of mischief together. Mr. Whalen (Luke Whalen's dad) claimed that when he said to me one day,  "What've you been doing, Judy?" I replied "I didn't do it, Skipper did."

In school they put us in different classrooms, and besides you were supposed to choose your friends from the same gender, but Skipper was always, will always be, connected, like a close cousin to me.

Thanks for this opportuity to enjoy again my thoughts of him.

Skipper was one of my best friends in high school, and we shared a number of baseball- and basketball-related activities (including baseball "board games with others, including Larry Hardy, Luke Whalen and Charles Harner). Skipper and I even drove to Las Vegas together to take our SAT tests. Unfortunately, I never saw him again after the summer of 1960. I'm still Facebook friends with his wife, Linda, and his son, Robert. Continue to rest in peace, Skipper!
