Eva Jane R. Matson (1937 - 2018)

 

Eva Jane R. Matson, the daughter of Stewart Henry Robeson and Ada Bernice Coyner, was born in Tuscon, Arizona on October 3, 1937 and died August 31, 2018 in Rock Hill, SC. She grew up in Boulder City, Nevada and attended New Mexico State University where she earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. After graduation she taught high school history and eventually started a publishing company called The Yucca Tree Press.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher L. (Vera), and children Emma and Connor: and Michael A. and children, Cole, Cody, and Tessa-Rae; her sister, Patrica Brickley and her brother, James Robeson.

Janie was active in St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Las Cruces, NM and Aldersgate United Methodist in Rock Hill, SC. An avid reader and writer, Janie has written extensively and started a publishing company which published a significant number of books on Southwestern and World War II topics. In addition to her church activities, Janie was a Master Gardener, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and an active volunteer with the Friends of the Library organization in Rock Hill, SC.

A memorial service is planned for a later date.

Gail Schuyler (Walsh) (1955)

I am so sorry to hear that our dear (1955) Janie has passed.  She was a good friend and contributed much to our class as well as society.  My sympathy and prayers are offered to her family.  with love, Gail (Schuyler) Walsh.
