Graduated from University of Nevada, Reno, Journalism degree 1964. Worked as a reporter at the Las Vegas Review-Journal until I went into the Navy in 1964. Served aboard the destroyer USS Buck as an officer; three deployments to Vietnam in the "Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club." See my photo on the bridge of my ship, Vietnam April 1965.
After the Navy worked for the Nevada State Journal, then the Reno Evening Gazette in Reno as a reporter, city editor and finally news editor. Moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1977 where I worked as the managing editor of the Idaho Press-Tribune.
Joined Union Pacific in 1980 in the public relations department at Salt Lake City. Transferred to Omaha in 1983. I worked under various titles as a spokesman for the railroad with systemwide responsibilities. I handled community relations problems as required as well as special events. I was a member of the "Go Team" AKA "Sudden Flyers Club" that was flown in the company jet to major accidents to interface with the news media. In 2005 I transferred to the Union Pacific Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs, Iowa as director historic programs. I retired December 2011. See my photo on the big day.

Thanks Peggy for posting Peter's amazing story and accomplishments. I knew he was intelligent but his accomplishments and life are inspiring.

One of the perks working for Union Pacific was Pat and I rode special trains when we hosted VIPs, politicians, shippers, news media and or railfans. Here we out looking out of a baggage car that we occasionally used as a dance car, complete with bar and live country band. Those were the days!
