Ralph (Mac) Magee (1957)
Mrs. McAdams was my typing teacher. She taught me to type at a steady pace, never increasing my speed until I had one hundred percent accuracy. I took that method with me and into every job I ever had. As a result; I was successful, in large measure, due to her teaching method. After high schoool, I went to active duty in the Navy and in due course....became a Radioman. In those days, Morse Code ruled as the most effective means of long-range communicatiins. In learning the code, I decided to apply Mrs. McAdam's method. As in typing, my abilities soared along with my speed. I was recognized for that and well known for accuracy. Again.....I owe that to Mrs. McAdams.
Many years later, I visited her in a home in Boulder City. I brought with me, a box of candy, flowers and a card.
She said she honestly didn't remember me. I assured her that wasn't a problem. After I told her what I've told you here, tears came to her eyes and she cried. I hugged her and told her again, just how much of a positive difference she made in my life.
A nurse wheeled her outside in a patio area and after some time spent talking in the great Boulder City sun, she asked if I would come back again. I told her I worked and lived then in California, but would visit my mom in BC again and surely would return. When at last I did come back....she had passed away.
I'll bet you somewhere in Heaven, there are a lot of angels that can type like Hell!
GOD BLESS OUR TEACHERS....EVERY ONE.
Helen Glass (Stecker) (1960)
I remember Mrs McAdams for a different reason. Any time a radio station plays the song RUNNING BEAR, sung by Sunny James its typing class all over again. People look at me kinda funny when I tell them we typed to that song. I'm sure others remember.

Typing was the most valuable class I took at BCHS. And she was one of the best. Talk about a practical skill!
I also learned a lot working for her on the school year book. Tom Clapper '62
Bill Herald (1959)
I couldn't have asked for a better typing instructor, and she helped me become the expert typist that I still am, more than 55 years later. With the benefit of her teaching, I passed her class with flying colors, achieving 78 wpm (with no errors) in a 10-minute test and setting the school record (up to that time) of 95 wpm (with no errors) in a 5-minute test.
I'm still Facebook friends with her son, Steve McAdams, and may his mother rest in peace.
