Nomalee Tilman

In loving memory of Nomalee Tilman, 65, of San Francisco, who died Sept 10th, 2013 at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Nomalee, whose career in mental health spanned more than 40 years, mostly in the Bay area, practiced what she counseled: find joy in what you love. For Nomalee, that meant travel, reading, good food and, above all, family and friends. Born in Boulder City, NV, in 1948, Nomalee was the fifth of six children born to Lee and Noma Tilman. She went to Boulder City High School and received her BS from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1970. Upon graduation, Nomalee moved to New York City and earned a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University in 1972,working for Catholic Charities. In 1977, she relocated to Sonoma, CA, where she worked in mental health, and maintained a private therapeutic practice in Sonoma. In 1990, she moved to San Francisco and worked for Prison Health Services in Oakland. Prior to her illness and subsequent retirement, Nomalee was a Health Care Manager for San Mateo County Correctional Health Services.
Nomalee is survived by her husband, Kent Graham, whom she married in 1993, her daughters, Elizabeth and Pryanka, and her grandson, Mason, and her sisters, Dawn and Kathleen, and three brothers, Rick, Tim and Paul. Per her wishes Nomalee did not want a funeral or Services. Her ashes were scattered in the warm St Thomas waters. For more information call 415-285-1104.
