Joseph W. 'Joe' Dawson
November 21, 1952 - March 31, 2005
Joseph W. “Joe” Dawson of Erie, formerly of Louisville, died March 31, 2005 at Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville. He was 52.
He was born November 21, 1952 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Paul and Lillian (Dove) Dawson. He moved to Boulder County in 1960 from Wisconsin.
Mr. Dawson earned a diploma from the Graduate School of Banking through University of Colorado. He graduated from Fairview High School in Boulder and studied business at the University of Colorado.
He married Cynthia Giles on June 6, 1975 in Boulder.
Mr. Dawson built a successful 30-year banking career in the communities of Louisville and Lafayette. He joined the Heritage Bank in 1999 and assumed the role of Vice President and managing officer of its Lafayette branch at 95th and Arapahoe in 2000. Prior to that position, he was on the staff of the Louisville branches of First Federal Bank (1990 to 1998) and Affiliated Bank of Colorado (1975 to 1990).
An avid golfer and community leader, Mr. Dawson served as Co-Chair of the Spaghetti Open Golf Tournament (1984-2002), a director of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce (1988-1991), a member of the Louisville Lions Club, a member of the Men’s Golf League at Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville and a President of First Coal Creek Men’s Club in 1990. He became a certified pilot 5 years ago. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed golfing, fishing, flying and boating.
He is preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife of Erie; a daughter, Tami Dawson of Erie; his mother of Longmont; a brother, Pete Dawson and his wife Lindy of Niwot and two sisters, Gail Maki and her husband Dennis of Madison, Wisconsin and Kathy Campbell and her husband George of Firestone.
Memorial Service will be 3 PM Tuesday, April 5 at Rocky Mountain Christian Church, 9447 Niwot Road in Niwot with Pastor Earl Matson officiating. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street Longmont, CO 80501.
