Gary Loyal Olson returned home to his Heavenly Father's loving arms on September 17, 2014 due to complications from diabetes.  He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Keith L. and Jean W. Olson. Gary graduated from Bountiful High School where he excelled in soccer, which was his life's passion. He was selected as the 1989 Gatorade Circle of Champions Utah Soccer player of the year. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and photography. Gary married Tristan Shumway on October 27, 2011, in the LDS Bountiful Utah Temple; they later divorced.
Gary was a friend to everyone he met. He was a true champion of the underdog; those who were homeless, hungry, lonely, or afraid.
Gary is survived by his parents; sister, Kelly (Chris) Nielsen and brother, Steve (Allison) Olson along with his seven nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray 23rd Ward, 755 E. Three Fountains Drive, with a viewing prior from 10-10:45 am. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
