Salt Lake City, Utah-on March 14th our beloved daughter, wife, mother, niece and cousin passed away from a cancer related illness. Jennie had been in treatment for lung cancer for 21 months.
Jennie was born to W. Gene and Kim Ellen Fraleigh Pugmire on Feb. 3, 1972 at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah at 10:32 p.m.
She graduated from Bountiful High School with honors in 1990. She attended the University of Utah on a scholarship in Chemical Engineering for one year. She then decided to go out of state and chose Arizona State University in Tempe. There she changed her major to Zoology and earned a B.S. degree in 1994.
She taught clogging and worked in a Lab a ASU while attending school. After graduation, she went to work as a Veterinarian's Assistant, and also spent many years practicing as a Doula. In 2008 she returned to Utah and taught high school Geometry for a year at Layton Christian Academy. She then decided that she was meant to be a full time Mom, and home schooled 3 of her children and another little girl for 2 years. She continued teaching her oldest daughter, Lindsay until her passing.
In her first year at ASU, she met her future husband, Joseph William Cross, the light of her life. She and Joe were perfect for each other. They shared many common interests; they loved to laugh together and had a great love and respect for each other. They married at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Tempe on May 14, 1994.
Joe and Jennie began their beautiful, loving family with the birth of Bradley Joseph in 1996, Lindsay Ellen 1997, Nathan Samuel 1998, Kaylee Jennifer 2002, and Hannah Deliah 2004.
We give special thanks to our church family for their tireless efforts on Jennie and Joe's behalf. Thanks also to her Oncologist Dr. Stinnett and his wonderful staff, her primary care physician Dr. Hobbs, and all the personal at Davis Hospital who worked hard to make every day the best it could be.
Jennie was generous, clever, kind and feisty with a deep love for God and others. Her beautiful spirit drew others towards her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
