John C. Hansen

John Clyde Hansen - Feb 14, 2012 FARMINGTON, UT

After a long and valiant fight with illness, John returned home to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on February 14, 2012. John was born to Darwin C. and Genae E. Hansen on June 24, 1962 in Logan, Utah, the second of five children. John attended Viewmont High School, graduating in 1980. While at Viewmont, John was active on the debate team and in student government. From 1981 - 1983, John served as an LDS missionary in the Dominican Republic where he developed a great sense of love and service for others that he would continue to practice and refine in the remaining years of his life. Following his service, while a student at Brigham Young University, John met and married the great love of his life and eternal companion, Kristen Andersen, in the Salt Lake City Utah LDS temple. John later graduated from Brigham Young University and the University of Utah College of Law. Together, John and Kristen would raise four sons: Matthew (Ashley), Daniel, Alexander, and Ethan. Additionally, John is the proud grandfather of two.

John began practicing law nearly 25 years ago as a trial attorney specializing in all aspects of insurance law. Initially, John was given the opportunity of practicing law with his father, an experience that John would later recall fondly as setting the foundation for a career of service to others. Indeed, John's enduring passion was lending a hand to those suffering from injuries. For the last several years, John was recognized as one of the Legal Elite attorneys in the state of Utah. Throughout his life, John would serve in various capacities in the LDS church and had a great influence on many in that regard, most notably his four sons. John leaves his earthly existence having served admirably as a son, husband, father, friend, and attorney.

John's lasting legacy, however, will always be as a man who would do anything for his family. John is survived by his father (Darwin C. Hansen), his wife (Kristen A. Hansen), his four sons (Matthew (Ashley), Daniel, Alexander, and Ethan), his two grandchildren (Elle Kade and Carter), and his siblings (Paul (Susan), David (Diane), RuthAnne (Jeremy), and Ann-Marie (Nathan). John is preceded in death by his mother (Genae E. Hansen). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Farmington Utah North Stake Center, 729 W. Shepard Lane with a viewing from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Family and friends may visit Friday, between 6 and 8 p.m., at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main, Farmington. Interment will be at Farmington City Cemetery. Online guestbook available at www.russonmortuary.com. Donations, in John's name, may be made to The Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Published in Deseret News from February 16 to February 18, 2012.
