3/25/1978 ~ 8/18/2013Our Daddy, husband, and buddy passed away peacefully Sunday after a 4 1/2 year battle with a brain tumor. We have never seen someone tolerate so much without complaining. Aaron was born in Salt Lake City Utah and spent most of his childhood in Bountiful Utah. One of his greatest loves in life was Hockey. He played for Bountiful High and for Utah State University. He passed on his love of the game to his son and has been Talon's coach since his first day on the ice and loved being a part of the youth coaching team. He also kept the men's league hockey program in Bountiful running so that he never had to be off the ice. Aaron had the biggest heart of anyone you could ever meet. He was constantly doing for others, he didn't hesitate to be there for anything they needed. He will be missed "so freakin' much" by his wife Cresta and his awesome and spunky children Talon, Griffin, and Hadlee. He is survived by his family above, parents Gary and JoAnn Matern, brother Richard (and family), sister Aimee (and family), in-laws Randy and Linda Pearson and their family as well as countless friends he called family. Per Aaron's wishes we will be having a casual party to celebrate his life, Thursday August 22nd 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Lewis Park, 275 East Lewis Park Drive Bountiful, Utah. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to an account in any of his children's name at America First Credit Union. Many thanks to his awesome team at Huntsman and Rocky Mountain Hospice. We love you Aaron and we know you are happy and healthy and skating like crazy right now.
