STEVE SOWDERS WAS KILLED IN THE FIGURE 8 RACE @ BEACH BEND PARK IN 1981 OR 1982. HE HAD JUST HAD HIS FIRST CHILD STEPHANIE. SHE WAS ONLY 2-3 MONTHS OLD WHEN HE WAS KILLED.
