Obituary for Lisa Ann Jennings

Lisa Ann Jennings was born November 13, 1960 in Glasgow, Kentucky to Donald and Ann Woodward. Her family moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where she attended school and graduated from Warren Central High in 1978. In the fall of that year she attended Florida College in Temple Terrace. While there, she met Boyd Jennings of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and they were married on June 6, 1980. They have three children: Angela, Joshua and Darla. As a family they have resided in Las Cruces NM, Pittsburg, TX, Franklin, KY, Alamogordo, NM, Edna, TX and lastly San Angelo, TX.

Lisa was the wife of a gospel preacher; she supported her husband unfailingly in that work for over 20 years. Together they served in several churches of Christ in New Mexico and Texas. For a time, she was the director of the Las Cruces Arts & Crafts Association. Lisa loved floral design and making dried flower arrangements. She was also active in the antique/resale trade in several cities. But her greatest passion was teaching the children’s Bible class and using her creative talents to bring the lessons alive for the children.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 36 years, Charles Boyd Jennings of San Angelo, TX, her parents Dr. Donald Reid and Eileen Ann Woodward of Bowling Green, KY, three children: daughter Angela Dawn Karl and husband Hayden of Vanderbilt, TX, son Joshua Boyd Jennings of San Angelo, TX, and daughter Darla Lorene Jennings of Denton, TX, one brother Dr. Mark Reid Woodward and wife Joy of Bowling Green, KY, one granddaughter Briley Alise Karl of Vanderbilt, TX.

A memorial service will be held at Harper Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

When I was 11 years old, my family moved to a new neighborhood.  The first person, whom I met and became very close friends, was Lisa Woodward.  Even as a child, Lisa was beautiful inside and out.  She was generous, kind, smart, and loving.  Lisa's heart was always to do the very best to encourage and lift up anyone with whom she came in contact.  I spent a lot of time with her in our youth, and she always was an encouragement to me in doing the right thing, regardless of any situation.  I was blessed to have been contacted by her more recently, and was even encouraged by her faith, while she, herself, was in pain from her illness.  Her courageous battle with a horrendous disease is amazing, because she chose to focus on the Lord; which is the manner in which she always lived her life.  She was blessed to be married to a wonderful Man-of-God, who chose to be a minister. Boyd could not have found a better mate in life than to have been with Lisa.  They sacrificed a lot to do the will of the Lord, serving others.  God further blessed them with three children, Angela, Joshua and Darla. They have also one beautiful granddaughter, Briley.  Even though there is great sadness at the loss of Lisa; it is a great feeling to know that she has run the race and will now be in the presence of the Lord!  I am happy to know that I will see my dear friend when I leave this world.  She will be missed by so many people.  Her love for everyone will be cherished for years and years to come.
