Sally Hall (Taylor)

From the San Jose (CA) Mercury News:

Sally Taylor Was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, on March 23, 1947 to Mike Hall and Sarah Putnam Hall. They named her Sarah Vacher Hall. Sally died at her home at Blue Mountain Peak Ranch, Mason County, Texas on October 30, 2007 after a 6-year battle with cancer. She grew up in Massachusetts and attended Thayer Academy in Braintree. In 1966, she married the love of her life, her friend and partner, Richard Taylor. Sally put herself through college while raising a child and working full-time, graduating from Framingham State College in 1982 when she was 35 years old. Sally led a very full and successful life. She and Richard moved to California and made their home in Big Sur. Sally was Corporate Controller for Cisco Systems from 1989 to 1995. She also served on the board of directors for Thayer Academy and was founder and a board member of "The Conservation Agency". She retired from Cisco Systems when she was 49 and she and Richard toured the world. They spent much of the next 7 years traveling around the United States, diligently searching for the place to spend the rest of their lives. In 2001, Sally and Richard found Mason, Texas where they lived for the past 6 years. It is a tight-knit community with friendly people, "Texas values" and a respect for personal freedoms and private property rights. In Mason she made many friends and was active in the community. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Red Hat Society, and the Mason Study Club. She also helped the City of Mason with planning and budgeting. Sally had many different interests: she liked to race cars and motorcycles, she traveled to all 7 continents; she toured Europe, Africa, the United States, Canada and Mexico on a motorcycle; she loved to ski, kayak, sky dive and hang glide. She also enjoyed simpler pursuits, such as hiking, camping and hunting. While Sally loved to travel and had many exciting hobbies, she also loved and respected nature, appreciated the serenity of the great outdoors and longed for a simple lifestyle. She was a true "steward of the land". Those left behind to remember her include her husband Richard Taylor of Mason, Texas; their son, Byron P. Taylor of Mason, Texas; grandson Daniel William Taylor of Kingman, Arizona; her mother Sarah Hall of Carmel Valley, California; her father Captain Mike Hall of Sanford, Maine; her brother Michael Hall and wife Judy of Sarasota, Florida; a very dear family friend, Suzie Paris of La Mision, Baja Mexico and Sally's cat "Tiger". At Sally's request, her body was cremated.
