Juanita Annabelle Soto Powell

Juanita Annabelle Soto Powell was born January 21, 1951 to Augustine and Elvira (Ramirez) Soto in Kingsville, Texas. She passed into her Lord’s kingdom on Sunday, September 12, 2021. She graduated from Brazosport High School and from East Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer programming. Her professional life included time as a systems analyst, a real estate agent, and as the co-owner (with her husband) and artistic hand of the Chile Store N More, all in Angleton, Texas.

On April 10, 1977, Annabelle married her love, Jerry Powell. Together they enjoyed their Chile Store, photography, traveling in their RV, southwestern art, and especially the horse races and their summer retreats to Ruidoso, New Mexico. She was also a lifetime member of both the Houston Rodeo Association and the Brazoria County Fair Association. Annabelle was a devoted member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church and Daughters of the King. She loved to cook and bake and was the famous for her pico de gallo More recently, she enjoyed crafting flower arrangements. She was affectionately known also as Granny, Nana, and Aunt Janie.

Annabelle was predeceased by her parents, her brother Eddie Soto, her brother-in-law Alvaro Vera, and son-in-law Bobby Duke.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her brother and family, Omar and Letty Soto, Ashley and Adrian; sister and family, Julia Vera, Marissa and Mario Guel, Olivia and Emily; niece and nephew Andrea Soto and Ryan Soto; step-children and families, Jay and Rachel Powell, Andrew and Mayra Powell, Mason, Emma, and Rinoa; Adam Powell; Audrey and Josh Goodlow; Sherry and Rudy Paltauf and Cora Mae; Lisa and Randy Cook, Amber and Trent Sprecher, Melissa, Robin, and Karlee Kuykendall, John Cook; Alexa Duke, Anna and Ryan Wisdom. Annabelle will be dearly remembered by extended family and many special friends, both younger and older .
