Michael Hansen
July 27, 1953 – May 28, 2004
Former Bremerton resident Michael R. Hansen, 50, of Lynnwood died May 28 at the University of Washington Medical Center from complications of a liver transplant.
He was born in Bremerton at Harrison Hospital to Roy and Bonnie (St. Cyr) Hansen. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1971 and went on to earn a degree from Olympic College in 1972.
From 1972 to 1975, he served in the Army as a medic.
He received a degree in cell and molecular biochemistry from the University of Washington in 1978.
He worked as a research scientist and college chemistry teacher for 16 years. He retired in 2003.
Mr. Hansen was instrumental in developing more than 40 patents for Weyerhaeuser Corp. He was a member of the Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
He enjoyed music, photography, fine wines and cooking.
Survivors include his parents, now of Bremerton and Arizona; a brother, Mark Hansen of Silverdale; and a sister, Michelle Hansen of Bremerton.
