Paul Hesseltine

Garland - Paul rode on to his next adventure on October 2, 2016, spending his last days with family. Paul retired from GE. He survived over fifty years with diabetes and lived every moment to the fullest. Paul was an avid outdoors man and loved riding his Harley and sailing. He served on the Garland Fire Department from 1978 until 2014 and was Chief for 7 years. Paul was the happiest when helping his friends and community.
Paul's biggest accomplishment was his family. Known as Grumpy, he was worshiped by his six grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Roberta Ann (Baker) Hesseltine of Garland; his two daughters, Tracy, her husband, Daniel Furay and their children Rubin and Levi; Christie, her husband Cooper Page and their children Jacob, Isaiah, Noah and Neva; his two sisters, Dawn, her husband John Snodgrass; Sharon, her husband Jim Looke; and by one brother, Kern Hesseltine and brother in law Guy Baker. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including two very special nephews, Steven and Dean Hesseltine and his best friend and companion of 12 years, his dog Roscoe. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and remembered for his words of wisdom and humor.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Gordon Hesseltine and Elaine Dale, his wife's parents, Elmer and Glynell Baker, by his sister, Gail and two brothers, Gordon and Hale.
A graveside service will be Friday, October 14, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Campbell Road, Garland. Pastor and friend Robert Young officiating. A celebration of life will be at held at his home, 19 Holts Mills Road, Garland on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. This will be a pot luck event that all are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his memory to Woman Care, PO Box 192, Dover Foxcroft, Maine 04426. The family would like to thank Hospice Care of Eastern Maine and a special thank you to Nancy Pushard.
