J.D. died September 17, 1992 from injuries sustained in an industrial accident. My memory of J.D. was when I asked him to Saddie Hawkens. I had a police officer show up at the school to read him his rights (ask him to the dance). The funny part was J.D. had misbehaved at lunch and he thought he was going to jail!!! J.D. and I remained close friends after High School. He was a great guy-I miss him.
J.D. his smile still shines. I remember when Christy sent the cops to ask him to the dance. Good Times. Still think about him and Adolfo and Kevin and many more that have passed on. I believe there party will never end. Miss you GUYS.
I will never be able to fill the void and it never stops hurting.
We had some great times together and as you know, got into a bit of trouble from time to time.
One particular memory that comes to mind makes me chuckle each time I think of it. We had a Playboy centerfold taped to our locker door and Mr. Leggett came by and noticed it. We quickly tried to slam the door but he caught it and opened it for all to see. Thinking we were had we just looked up at him with dumb looks. With a straight face, Mr Leggett simply said, "my wife has a suit just like that" and he walked away.
OK! I love Marti's story. And that's why we love Mr. Leggett! J.D. and I became very close friends and he became my "brother" through marriage, but actually in my heart too. Love him and miss him! I will never forget the day he died, it was one of the worst days of my life, but I know his life is much better now and his party does still live on!!
How can anyone ever forget that smile! The smile comes from within. J.D. was the kindest person I have ever known. He always had a kind word to say about everyone. So shy and quite yet so much of a presence. I remember going to the Jr prom, my mom still looks at the pics and talks about how gorgeous he was. J.D. will forever hold a piece of my heart.
