Steven Whitlock Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Myers Mortuary - Brigham City on Dec. 21, 2023.
Steven John Whitlock passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 67 after a quick battle with cancer.
The youngest of James (Jim) and Sylvia Whitlock, born on July 18, 1956, in Brigham City, Utah. Steve graduated from Box Elder High School in 1974. He worked for ATK for most of his career and successfully retired after 31 years.
With what started as a routine stop at the Corinne gas station on his way home from work, Danese Liljenquist quickly caught his eye. It took him a couple of weeks to work up the courage, and with help from his friend to ask her out, he took Danese on a date. They fell in love right away and quickly ran off to Reno, Nevada to get married. They recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary.
Steve and Danese moved to Honeyville and welcomed daughters Crystal Jane and Jerica Jill. Despite his rough and tough exterior, he always had a soft spot for his girls and would do anything for them. He raised them to love and appreciate the outdoors and the beauty of mother nature, and simple things like building forts, root beer floats, and talking around the campfire.
Being promoted to Grandpa was one of the highlights of his life. His grandkids could always expect him to give them flashlights, pocketknives, him sneaking them money, fishing trips, and starting the fire pit to roast marshmallows. Often, he was found getting his beard combed or his hair brushed into a ponytail by the grandkids.
Although "his chair" is now empty, we know he is listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival while finding the best camping, fishing, and gold mining spots in Heaven.
Steve is survived by his Wife Danese, Daughters Crystal (Chris) Isakson, Roy, Utah, and Jerica (James) Eyre, Nampa, Idaho. Grandchildren Anthony, Sidney, Bree, and Cole. Brothers Bob Whitlock and Larry Whitlock. Sister-in-law Jill (Bil) Bastien, Brothers-in-law Brandon (Krista) Liljenquist, Bret Liljenquist, Travis (Kari) Liljenquist, and Kirtis Williams. Many nieces and nephews and other family members who will miss him dearly.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Jim and Sylvia, Mother and Father-in-law Dan and Joetta Liljenquist, Sister and Brother-in-law Nancy and Cleve Manigault, Sister Brenda Sears, Sister-in-law Sheryl Williams, Sister-in-law Michele Whitlock, and Sister-in-law Katrina Liljenquist. Nephew Kyle Whitlock and Niece Mindy Stallings.
A big thanks to the community of Honeyville and Primrose Hospice.
