
Joseph E. Grein, 28, of Brighton, died Oct. 12, 2009.
He was born March 24, 1981, in Denver, to Kevin Grein and Carrie (Boettcher) Grein. Joe grew up in the Brighton area and attended school at Zion Lutheran Church and School. Joe graduated from Brighton High School in 1999. He attended college at CSU and CU-Denver. Joe married Susan Arambula Jan. 27, 2006, in Brighton. His son, Jacob Eugene, was born Feb. 13, 2007.
Joe joined the Federal Heights Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in 2004 and served for a time with the Fort Lupton Fire District. He became seriously ill with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2008 but kept studying and became certified as a paramedic. The Federal Heights City Council recognized Joe with a proclamation Oct. 6, designating him as an honorary career paramedic/firefighter with the city of Federal Heights.
Survivors include his wife; his son; parents, Kevin (Linda) and Carrie; brother, Steven (Stephanie); one nephew; grandparents, Ivan and Joan Grein, Greg Boettcher, and Pat Matlock; step-siblings, Andrew, Rachel and Mark Parrott; parents-in-law, Joe and Laura Arambula; sister-in-law, Denise (Johnathan) Carruth; many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members; and many friends and fellow firefighters.
A funeral service was Oct.16 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.
